The Developmental Program is designed specifically for kids ages 4-7 who are interested in having fun. Through Bloomington United’s programming, they will also learn foundational skills that will equip them to start playing competitive soccer against other communities by age 8.
Training sessions include 1) game-like activities that encourage competition and lots of touches on the ball and 2) scrimmages that help players start to understand positions and how to play as a team.
Developmental Program Features
- Our program caters to players aged 4-7 (birth year 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017)
- All sessions are at locations within Bloomington, MN
- Players are placed in coed groups at the youngest ages to support an inclusive, learning environment
- Our primary focus is on honing soccer skills while fostering a genuine love for the sport. An emphasis is placed on developing technical skills alongside fitness and agility training.
- Our sessions are led by dedicated parent volunteers who adhere to meticulously crafted developmental lesson plans, overseen by the Bloomington United Director of Coaching (DOC). Additionally, each session receives live support from either the DOC or another experienced Bloomington United staff coach to assist and guide all coaches.
- All players will be provided with a uniform jersey

Welcome to Spring Kickers, where young soccer enthusiasts aged U5-U6 (birth years 2020 – 2019) embark on an exciting journey of skill development, fun, and friendship. Led by Bloomington United’s Executive Director, Marius Roevde, and supported by our volunteer coaches, this program is designed to provide our youngest players with ample opportunities to enhance their ball confidence and abilities while enjoying the game they love. Spring Kickers offers a perfect blend of age-appropriate soccer concepts, skills training, and small-sided games, providing a comprehensive and engaging experience for participants. Whether your child is new to soccer or looking to further develop their skills, this program is the ideal introduction to Bloomington United’s soccer philosophy.
Program Highlights:
- Professional Coaching Curriculum and Oversight: Participants will receive coaching from volunteer parent coaches coordinated and supported by our Executive Director, Marius Roevde.
- Skill Development: Players will engage in age-appropriate soccer concepts and skills training aimed at enhancing their ball confidence and abilities.
- Small-Sided Games: Following skills training, participants will have the opportunity to put their newfound skills into practice through small-sided games, promoting teamwork and game understanding.
- Introduction to Bloomington United: This program serves as an excellent introduction to Bloomington United’s soccer philosophy, providing a glimpse into the club’s commitment to player development and enjoyment of the game.
- Equipment Needed: Soccer cleats, shin guards, water bottle, and an age-appropriate soccer ball. All players will receive a Bloomington United training t-shirt. Please mark your preferred size at checkout.
- Attendance Expectation: While players are encouraged to attend as much as possible to accelerate their development, we understand that families have busy schedules. Therefore, we advise attending sessions as schedules permit.
